On March 15th, the ATF held an invitation-only webinar about the recently improved wait times for NFA applications.  Deputy Assistant Director of EPS James Vann and NFA Division Acting Chief Ben Hiller explained that the drastically improved wait times (often within a week) are the “new normal” and that trust applications should be coming down in the near future to reflect similar wait times, as well.

Some of the efforts made to decrease wait times include “bundling” of applications.  For example, if you had three applications submitted at various times, when the first comes up for review, the examiner will approve all three at the same time.  To improve trust application wait times, ATF will no longer take the time to review “standardized trusts” (trusts which they commonly see) with a fine tooth comb.  Especially where a trust is a single responsible person trust (which I always strongly recommended), they will just perform the background check and approve it.  ATF is developing software to help in this process.

With wait times under a month, it’s time to get into the NFA game, if you haven’t already!  To read more about the ATF’s webinar, visit: https://americansuppressorassociation.com/are-fast-eforms-transfers-here-to-stay/
